da bet vitoria: Everton sacked Lampard in January 2023 after less than a year in charge. The former boss helped the team escape the drop after being appointed but left the Toffees second from bottom of the Premier League. Everton's struggles have continued this season, with the club once again battling relegation after being docked 10 points for breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules. Lampard has spoken about his time at the club and admits he was unsure what owner Farhad Moshiri’s strategy was for the Toffees.

Lampard told Sky Bet: "I’m not exactly sure [what Moshiri's strategy was], and I’m not saying that loosely because I came into the club four or five years after he’d been there. You could see that there had been five managers – Marco Silva, Roberto Martinez, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, and Big Sam [Allardyce] – high-level managers. I came in and you could see with the squad that there wasn’t a strategy, and this happens at football clubs. New managers come in and want to go a different way, but you can have a strategy of what you want to be – I wasn’t sure what it was."
The former Everton boss also spoke about the difficulties he endured regarding transfers. He added: "One of the problems I found at Everton was that we were trying to work a football plan – Kevin Thelwell came in as Sporting Director and Denise was the football plan recruitment – we were working towards it, but the minute January came, it was like the Wild West. Agents, and everyone, it was all about what it was going to be and who we could bring in.
“We were struggling to spend money because of the FFP situation, but I desperately wanted to bring in some players, and in the end after I’d left, where Sean Dyche came in the back end [of the season], he couldn’t make any moves anyways and Anthony Gordon left the club. There was a lot of tension at the club through that and I think it would have been a build up over the past few years, I felt it from the minute I came in until the minute I left – it was almost like we were in a crisis but there is going to be another crisis, it was quite difficult."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Everton have appealed their points deduction but have since been hit with a fresh charge of breaching FFP rules. The move means that the Toffees could potentially lose more points or be fined, although they are expected to fight against any further sanctions. Nottingham Forest are also facing a possible points deduction for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules, which could hit their chances of staying up. Nuno Espirito Santo's side currently sit three points above Everton in the table.

Everton are also in the midst of a takeover by 777 partners, which would see Moshiri's time at the club come to an end. However, the takeover has been delayed as the club's potential new owners are still waiting for Premier League approval. Everton's next game is against Luton Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
