After signing his first professional contract with the Philadelphia Union Thursday – a deal that includes a clauser to transfer him to Manchester City at age 18 – Sullivan has a chance to make MLS history.
If the teenager can debut before July 29 for the Union, he will surpass Freddy Adu's long-standing record of being the youngest MLS debutant ever.

"I think it would be cool to obviously have my first record, but it doesn't really matter to me if I beat it or not," Sullivan said of Adu's record. "I mean, everyone's on their own journey. It's not really where you start, it's about where you finish."

On if he will get the opportunity to beat the record, first-team head coach Jim Curtin said "If he's healthy, he'll do it."
The Union have nine matches between now and the 29th for Sullivan to make his debut, with six of them being home matches.It feels safe to say one of their games at Subaru Park will be the night, but for now, it's two months of patiently waiting for all parties involved.
